Out of an abundance of safety concerns and a great deal of deliberation, we feel it is necessary to cancel the 2020 Naperville Women’s Half Marathon and 5K on June 14th (In conjunction with the Naperville 10K & 5K). This is an unprecedented global public health issue and we must do our part to act responsibly and protect our runners, volunteers, spectators, sponsors, staff and host community.
We also know many of you have trained and made sacrifices for months in anticipation of a great personal accomplishment. With this in mind, all runners will remain registered as Virtual Race participants and be deferred for free into the 2021 event. For those who live in the greater Chicago area, we plan to distribute your athlete items in person at the Naperville Running Company on race weekend (June 12-13), and will send out more information as the date approaches. For those who do not live in the Chicago area, we will mail your participant items after June 14th.
If you are able, we encourage you to get out and run a 5K, half marathon or any other distance on Sunday, June 14, 2020. If you are unable to complete your run on Sunday, June 14th, please feel free to run your half marathon or 5K at any time and in any way you are able (outside, treadmill, indoor track, etc.). Due to the anticipated high volume of virtual race participants you do not need to submit your results to us.
Next year’s event will take place on April 18, 2021. We will be opening registration sometime in June & we will be sending everyone a VIP priority link for a free deferral into the 2021 event.
We appreciate your patience as we navigate this unprecedented time, and we will see everyone in 2021!
Thank you for understanding.
Nick Lynch, Event Director
